CTA Scholarship Programs
(must sign in, then look at lower, left column)

CTA Scholarship Programs

They include:

  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
  • CTA Scholarship for Dependent Children
  • Cesar Chavez Memorial Education Awards Program
  • CTA Scholarship for Members

CCA Provides Professional Strength
Thanks to the Community College Association lobbying, political, and professional development program, CCA has:

  • Obtained millions of additional dollars for community colleges from the legislature;
  • Guaranteed protection for community college funding through Proposition 98, which gives us budgetary protections not provided to the state universities;
  • Lobbied for and won monumental increases in STRS benefits;
  • Campaigned for and passed Proposition 1A, the highest bond amount ever for educational facilities;
  • Protected faculty right during the Education Code review process;
  • Negotiated 8 of the top 10 highest earnable salaries of the 71 community college districts.
  • By joining CCA you will be part of the largest, most influential association of educators striving to improve the working conditions of its members and the quality of public education.
More than 295,000 California educators belong to CCA, CTA, and NEA. CTA is the largest public employee association in the state. NEA is the largest public employee association in the country with over 2.4 million members.

CCA Assists You in Avoiding Professional Risks
It is an unfortunate reality that faculty are constantly at risk of harassment charges, criminal charges, or civil lawsuits. No matter how unfounded, such a charge against a faculty member may cost thousands of dollars to defend, even if the claim is dismissed before it goes to trial. CCA/CTA/NEA members are all protected by a $1 million professional liability policy which will also reimburse legal fees for the defense of criminal investigations and charges. The financial burden of liability protection is reason enough to become a CCA member.

CCA Provides Professional Leadership
The CCA influences educational policy and is a public opinion leader throughout the state. Association policy is set by the CCA Council that meets at least twice a year. The Council delegates are elected by local CCA Chapters.

CCA Provides Opportunities for Professional Growth
Each year the CCA offers an array of professional development training programs. The CCA Fall Bargaining and Leadership Conference and CCA Winter Council and Advocacy Conference are two of the outstanding opportunities for faculty to continue to improve their professional skills. These and other conferences offered by the CCA provide faculty with the latest developments in changing state requirements; opportunities to network with other faculty from around the state and insight into how to improve their contract language and bargaining techniques. These local and state conferences are open to all members at a very low cost. CCA members gain skills in protecting employees rights, negotiating, and advocacy.

CCA Offers Member Benefits
To enhance the value of association membership, CCA/CTA/NEA has created special programs for members only. Members have an opportunity to procure auto loans, entertainment discounts tickets, receive grants and scholarships, and other goods and services at special rates.

Services and Programs Offered to Members at No Cost

  • NEA Dues-Tab Life Insurance as part of continuous NEA membership
